Welcome!
I hope this will be a place to share my race experiences, travel adventures and the occasional recipe with you, as an age group triathlete, outdoor athlete, physiotherapist and mom.
As I was completing my Kinesiology degree in 2010, two of my best friends convinced me to register with them for a sprint triathlon in Bracebridge. This opportunity could not have arrived at a better time. I had found it challenging to compete in team sports in university and I developed unhealthy habits that led to the dreaded freshman fifteen (or twenty). I borrowed my mom’s hybrid bike, purchased my first pair of tri shorts and trained a modest three hours per week for a few months. Crossing the finish line was the most incredible feeling of accomplishment and I was immediately hooked.
Fast forward to more than a decade later… I am still addicted to triathlons and have suffered a few Ironman 70.3 events as well. I survived my first full Ironman in Whistler, BC, in July 2019 and raced two world championships in September 2019 (the ITU World Grand Final in Lausanne, Switzerland and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France). I’ve worked my butt off to podium in several races and feel incredibly fortunate to have converted my best friends and husband into triathletes!
My goal is to share some of the things I have learned along the way and apply the unique perspective that a career in physiotherapy offers.
I hope to use this platform to complain about the training grind, reflect thoughtfully on my races, discuss how I deal with ongoing aches and pains and share stories about some of the type 2 fun and shenanigans I expose myself to along the way. Triathlon is a gruelling sport but the community is incredibly welcoming and supportive.
I hope you enjoy your time here and thanks for stopping by!
